14. They Were The First Dog To Appear On A Magazine Cover
The Labrador was the very first dog to make the cover of a major magazine! It landed the December cover of Life magazine in 1938, when the publication put a black Labrador on its cover. 

The dog's name was "Blind of Arden", and he made the cover that week because he won the No. 1 U.S. Retriever of the year contest. The test was hosted by the Long Island Retriever Club, which tested to see which dog was the best fetcher and retriever. This little guy won by a landslide.
