5. Pro-Democracy Rallies In Tiananmen Square
Thousands of students marched onto Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, protesting for democracy, freedom of the press, and freedom of speech. The Chinese government declared martial law as an answer to the protest, and tanks and soldiers with machine guns descended down on the students, murdering those who held their ground.
