11. 1940: Hedy Lamarr
Often called “The Most Beautiful Woman in Films,” Hedy Lamarr went on to join the war effort and was the person who invented the technology that would lead to Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. She created it in the 1940s as a secret wartime communication system, and it would block the enemy from interfering with a ship's torpedoes.
