Royal Family Protocols

One of the oldest rules in the book is that no one can touch a member of the royal family without them extending the courtesy first. But what happens when you want to signal to a whole room of people that you won't be shaking any of their hands without introducing some awkwardness?

Queen Elizabeth found a social cue for that. If she holds a clutch or purse with both hands, people know she will not be open to handshakes or any other touches.
