Royal Kids Have No Surname
Until the 20th century, royal babies had no last name. Instead, they took on their title and the house that they represented. This was fine since kids were typically home-schooled, but when Princess Diana broke tradition and sent Prince William and Harry to private school, rules had to be tweaked a little.
To accommodate for changing times, the kids' surname becomes their title. So Prince George is called George Cambridge.
