Dolly Parton's Acoustic Version Of 'Jolene' Will Make You Love The Song All Over Again

Dolly reinvents the song 45 years after its release.

At 72, Dolly Parton has nothing to prove. But just in case anyone thought otherwise, she's knocked it out of the park with a new, stripped-down version of "Jolene" — 45 years after the song debuted.

"Jolene's been on the prowl a long time, but she just got a makeover and I couldn't be more excited to share the new string version with y'all!" Parton tweeted two weeks before the song was released on YouTube Friday.

The rendition is featured on the Dumplin' movie soundtrack and features the country star's amazing vocals and a full strings section. It's so good that you'll want to listen and watch more than once.

Dumplin' is based on the book of the same name about a "self-proclaimed fat girl" and her overbearing former pageant-queen mom (played by Jennifer Aniston). The movie will be released on Netflix on December 7. Parton actually wrote the theme song for the movie, as well as five other original songs.
