19. 'Harold And Maude' (1971)
So simultaneously creepy and wonderful, Harold and Maude has risen to cult status and deservedly so. The plot revolves around the exploits of a young man named Harold Chasen (Bud Cort) who is obsessed with death until he meets a 79-year-old woman named Maude (Ruth Gordon). Their friendship evolves into a romantic relationship and Harold finds joy in living for the first time. Not surprisingly, the film was a commercial and critical flop at the time but is now considered a classic.
