7. Know Your Own Expectations
What do you want from your relationship with your adult child or children? Being clear about your expectations will be helpful in maintaining healthy relationships. Do your expectations match your adult children's expectations for the relationship? If they are far apart, it will be stressful for someone. Recognizing something as your own expectation can help you to not take things so personally when expectations don't match reality. If it helps you to get clear, you could try journaling about your expectations.
