13. Illinois: Train Accidents
Illinois ranks among the top states in the number of railway accidents every year, but that's not because the conductors are poor drivers. Instead, the Midwestern state has the second highest number of railway crossings in the country, just after Texas.

There is even a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to these collisions, which range everywhere from a train wreck that happened in 1887, to a Loop derailment in 1977 in downtown Chicago. The state has nationwide train safety campaigns though, which they hope will help lower accidents.
