25. 'An Unnecessary Woman'
Aaliya Sohbi lives alone in an apartment in Beirut, where she is single, childless, and surrounded by books. The story follows her late-life crisis, creating a beautiful picture of the inner workings of an older woman's mind as we follow her past and present visions of Beirut, her memories of the Lebanese Civil War, and the frustration of not being able to control an aging body. It gives a beautiful portrait to the life of a single woman living in the Middle East, and the difficulties of growing older.
