7. She Set Her Sights On Nashville At An Early Age
Parton was 18 years old when she graduated from Sevier County High School in 1964. The very next day, she took off for Nashville.

In honor of her long history in Nashville, the mayor of the city in 2019 signed a proclamation declaring that August 5 is officially Dolly Parton Day. "We give thanks for Dolly’s unparalleled career as an entertainer and philanthropist and her ability to touch millions of lives everywhere, including so many right here in Music City, with her moving music and her generous heart," the proclamation states.
