5. She Released Her First Single When She Was 13
Dolly wrote her first song, “Puppy Love,” when she was 11 years old. It was released in 1959 as a single by Goldband Records. She was only 13 years old at the time. A song called, "Girl Left Alone," written by Dolly and her aunt and uncle, appeared on side B.

Dolly took a 30-hour bus trip with her grandmother to record the songs in Louisiana. "I don't think I'll ever forget the way that bus smelled," Dolly writes on her website. "It was a combination of diesel fuel, Naugahyde, and people who were going place."
