2. She Has 11 Siblings
Dolly is the fourth of 12 children born to Robert and Avie Lee Parton. Her mother was a homemaker who loved singing and telling folk stories. Dolly's father, known as "Lee," was a construction worker and sharecropper who later tended to a small farm.

Most of Dolly’s happiest memories were from her life on the farm, which inspired her to write "My Tennessee Mountain Home" in the early '70s. She first started singing as a young girl at the church where her grandfather was a pastor.
