'Antiques Roadshow' Tells Us Their 20 Favorite Antiques Over The Years

11. Joseph Nye Dunning Timepiece, ca. 1825

The owner, who is a clock aficionado, inherited this piece from his mother and did not know much about it before coming to ROADSHOW. He refers to the piece as a “banjo clock,” which is a newer term based off the instrument-like form. The clock was made around 1825 by Joseph Nye Dunning in Burlington, Vermont. The owner assumed the value would be around a few thousand and was surprised to learn Cheney’s $20,000-$30,000 appraisal. As Cheney says, “it's one of the finest clocks of this type that I've ever seen here at the Roadshow.”
