'Antiques Roadshow' Tells Us Their 20 Favorite Antiques Over The Years

4. 1892 H. F. Farny Watercolor & Gouache Painting
Appraised Retail Value: $200,000 – $300,000

"This emotional and touching appraisal features a piece of art that the owner inherited after her grandmother passed away. The owner was unsure of whether it is a print or painting, but after attempting to remove a mosquito stuck underneath the frame glass she got a little “scared” because it looked like it could be real. While it was previously appraised twice as a print—once for $200 and again for $250—Hilferty confirms it is indeed an authentic painting by Henry Francois Farny, a French-born American painter who is best known for his relationship with and paintings of Native American tribes. Upon hearing the valuation, the owner immediately tears up and says “Oh, my God. That's so much…. Should I have left the mosquito in the back?!'"
