As we age, our bodies change and so do our sleep patterns. We tend to take longer to fall asleep. We spend more time in the lighter sleep stages and less in REM sleep. We experience an increase in sleep fragmentation (waking up during the night). We often wake not feeling fully rested and are tired during the day.

While we can't turn the clock back, we can learn some ways to help ourselves fall asleep, or back to sleep, more quickly so we can get the most out of our nights.
