10. 1940: Scottish Terriers
Scottish Terriers were huge in both the 1930s and early 1940s for two reasons. First, when Monopoly came out in the '30s, one of the playing pieces was a small Scottish Terrier. And second, President Franklin Roosevelt became the owner of a terrier named Fala in 1940, who quickly became known as the “most photographed dog in the world.”
