9. 1939: Wire-Hair Fox Terrier
Movies help influence the trend of dog booms, and Asta from the Thin Man comedies helped make everyone want a fox terrier in the '30s. Played by A-List fox terrier Skippy, the charmingly scruffy dog got into all sorts of shenanigans that made everyone want their own cheeky pup. He went on to play in big-ticket movies that same decade - only increasing the breed's popularity even more - like The Awful Truth  and Bringing Up Baby.
