9. Take Them To A Play
When I was in sixth grade, my grandma took my whole family to see a production of Peter Pan. As the children "flew" above us, little Michael Darling dropped his teddy bear on my lap. I'll never forget my dad standing up so the actor could grab it. I've loved the theater ever since.

When you take a child to a play, you promote imaginative thinking, proper etiquette, and an appreciation for the stage. Major cities generally have children's theaters with shows designed for short attention spans, but you might also take a look at community theater offerings and free Shakespeare in the Park festivals.
