The very first time I realized I could someday turn into my mother was when my kids were little. One day, I opened my mouth to reprimand one of them, and out jumped my mother's voice. It happened quite a few times when I was tired and reacting to things that were happening with my kids. Ack!

For the most part I tried to parent as myself, not letting my mother's voice out too often with those all-too-familiar lines: "Just wait 'til your father gets home!" or "Just wait until you have kids!"

Fast forward to the present: I'm over 50 and it's not just my mom's voice I'm channeling, it's much more. Here are some of the ways I find myself getting more and more like my mom.
